Padres 2010 Draft Slot

Saturday September 5, 2009

As of today the San Diego Padres would receive the 7th pick in the 2010 draft.

At the All Star break the Padres would have received the 2nd draft pick behind the Washington Nationals.

At the pace they have been playing at since the All Star break, the Padres would finish with the 10th draft pick.

Are you happy that the Padres have started playing well and winning, or would you rather have seen them continue to play sub .400 ball and end up with the 2nd pick?

  1. I don't care about the draft pick, really. We've got a great group of young players right here right now, and I'm loving all the winning. I wouldn't trade winning games for losing any day. We all went through enough losing last year. I don't even care that we're 20 games behind right now: we're winning, and that's all that really matters.

  2. I think they should play anyone the believe will be part of the future, regardless of the draft. The draft is the way to build, but also it smarter to have mid round picks for reasons of value. Its cheaper to sign someone with the 10th pick then second, and if history is any kind of barometer its the same likely-hood of them panning out.

  3. I agree with both of you that #1 - Its fun to watch these young kids play right now. They are playing good ball and they are coming together as a team. #2 - You are almost as likely to get a great young player at the #5 - #10 pick as you are at #2 - #3.
